What gasfitting actually covers
Gas is one of those trades people only think about when something is being installed or something has stopped. In practice it covers the appliance, the pipework that feeds it, the flue that takes the products of combustion outside, and the certification that says all three are safe.

LPG or natural gas
Natural gas is piped to the property and you never think about it again, but it is only available in parts of Napier and Hastings. LPG comes in bottles, works anywhere, and suits a house that uses gas for cooking and hot water rather than heating everything. The right answer depends on your street and what you want to run.
Servicing, before it gets cold
Gas appliances are like anything else with a burner: they work better and last longer if someone looks at them occasionally. A gas fire that has not been serviced in five years will be less efficient, and it will pick the first genuinely cold week of the year to stop. Getting it done in autumn is a great deal easier than getting it done in July.

Common questions
Do you do both LPG and natural gas?
Yes. Bottled LPG and reticulated natural gas, for cooking, hot water and heating. If you are choosing between them, the deciding factor is usually whether natural gas is available in your street.
Can I install a gas hob myself if I buy it?
No. Gas work has to be done by a licensed gasfitter, and for good reason. Buy the appliance wherever you like, we are happy to install something you have sourced yourself.
Do you service gas appliances as well as install them?
Yes, we service and repair gas appliances, including hot water units and gas fires. Regular servicing on a gas fire is worth doing before winter rather than during it.
Can you convert my electric hot water to gas?
Usually. Continuous flow gas hot water frees up the cylinder cupboard and does not run out. It needs a gas supply and the right flue position, so it is worth a look before you commit.
